Thanksgiving with friends

This year Thanksgiving was a group effort - and delicious because of it.

Matt & Jess carving the turkey (after some serious contemplation)...

Laura mashed up some amazing potatoes (don't watch how much butter she puts in)...

Bob cooked up his Brussels sprout concoction...

Petrea helped out wherever she could...

Logan whipped up his special fresh ground nutmeg whipped cream...

And everyone ate so much we had to take an hour long hike after dinner in order to make room for dessert!

Fall/Winter abundance

I bet you thought the Farmer's Market posts were done for a while... but they're not! Which I find an exciting statement in itself... so here's what's in season in November - Brussels sprouts, Jerusalem artichokes, regular artichokes, persimmons, nuts, apples and lots of different kinds of squash and potatoes.

Rootbeer tasting party

Here in California, wine tasting is a big thing - being non-conformists we (actually Heidi & Logan came up with the idea) decided to try rootbeer tasting instead.

It was a blind tasting complete with descriptive notes on each offering, notes like "very nice finish" and "vanilla undertones"...

The final vote - oddly enough Virgil's came in much lower than expected.
